2006 F1 Round 13 of 18: Hungary (Hungaroring)

Highlights: Qualifying penalties for Alonso and M. Schumacher put them both near mid-pack on the starting grid; Kubica replacing Villeneuve for his GP debut as a first-time Polish driver in a GP; rain during the race showcasing the talents of a few in the wet; Alonso and Schumacher slicing up through the grid at the start; Alonso’s pass of Schumacher in the wet on the outside of a turn; Alonso’s right rear wheel coming loose (not tightened after last pit stop) and knocking him out of the race at about 20 laps to the end; M. Schumacher out with about 2 laps to go; Button wins his first race…..great stuff.Alonso’s lead over Schumacher is 10: 100 to 90 and Renault is still ahead of Ferrari in the constructor’s championship: 149 to 142.

UPDATE: After Robert Kubica was disqualified from the results of the Hungarian GP – Schumacher moved up into the points and gained one point for his finish. He’s now 10 behind Alonso.
