Happy Birthday, Anne!
Anne is 5 today! Our youngest is growing quickly (taller than her sisters at this age) and is looking forward to starting kindergarten this Fall.

Highlights: lots of clag (and I’m referring to definition 2, not 1 ;-> ) on the track, making things quite dicey and costing Räikkönen a spot a couple of laps from the end.Alonso leads Schumacher in overall drivers points standings: 84 to 59 and Renault is still ahead of Ferrari in the constructors championship: 121 to 87.
Also, the countdown begins….one year until we get the boys back together for a trip to the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix.
Race result:
1. Alonso (Renault)
2. Schumacher (Ferrari)
3. Räikkönen (McLaren Mercedes)
Next up: U.S. Grand Prix (Indianapolis) - next week, 2-Jul, 11:30 AM CST pre-race on SpeedTV.
Once again, XRT has turned me on to another great band.
In the car last night, I heard a cool song by a band whose name sounded like ‘keen’ …..a bit of googling and iTunes-ing later, it turns out the band is ‘Keane‘ and the song I heard is “Is It Any Wonder?‘ off their recently released album ‘Under the Iron Sea.’ (I’m sure this is old hat to those of you younger, hipper, and more ‘in tune’ than me… but, it’s new to me and … I guess I’m not as young, hip, and in tune as I used to be… ;->).
So, I dropped a few bucks for a few songs at the iTunes music store and will probably pick up the CD @ BestBuy today (since I still like the physicality of the CD and the associated jacket / inserts, etc.. - even though it’ll sit in a basement closet after I rip it into iTunes).
It looks like they’re in town this Tuesday (27-June) at Metro (looks like it’s sold out) and they’re at Summerfest in Milwaukee on Thursday (29-June).
A visit from our pal Traci (Director of Marketing for FeedBurner) served as a perfect occasion to don our FeedBurner schwag.(The girls liked the stickers, but wondered when we were going to ‘FeedBurger’ to eat those tasty, blue, flame-broiled burgers….)

My ‘cousin’ Simone from Curitiba, Brazil, who initially contacted me a few months ago, was nice enough to send pictures of her beautiful family. In the photo above, left to right: Simone, her sister Cibele, her mom Sirlei, niece Beatriz, sister-in-law Luciane, and brother Sidney.
Father’s day was great… this past Sunday, one of the fun little things we did was a quick trip to Dairy Queen and then over to the outskirts of O’Hare to watch some planes up close. There’s a great parking lot near Elmhurst/York Rd. and Arthur in Elk Grove Village that places us right underneath air traffic off of runway 14R.
They’re growing much too quickly… Allie (in glasses), 9.5; Emily, 8; Annie, almost 5. Here, they’re modeling their shorter Summer cuts.
We took the girls to see Cars tonight and loved it. The central theme of the story (summarized in the movie’s tag line above) really resonated for me (in light of this past year). As always seems to be the case for each Pixar feature, it’s a great story surrounded by some incredible visuals. The wizards at Pixar keep raising the visual bar - I had a hard time reminding myself I was watching virtual landscapes during the Lightning McQueen / Sally Carrera driving sequence.
I’ll have to get in on DVD when it comes out eventually so I can digest all of the little nuggets sprinkled throughout - I especially liked CarTalk’s Click and Clack (”The Tappet Brothers”) as the Rust-eze sponsors - and Michael Schumacher’s (Ferrari’s F1 driver) cameo at the end.

Highlights: none (since I’m none too happy with the CBS coverage….I understand F!’s desire to expose F1 to a larger audience, but I’m not too keen on the commentary).Race result:
1. Alonso (Renault)
2. Schumacher (Ferrari)
3. Räikkönen (McLaren Mercedes)
Next up: Grand Prix of Canada on 25-Jun, 11:30 CST pre-race on SpeedTV.
