2006 F1 Round 7 of 18: Monaco

Highlight: bonehead tactic by Schumacher during Saturday qualifying….setting pole, then staging an ‘accident’ to block others on their fast laps…..luckily, the FIA sent him to the back row for the race.Race Result:

1. Alonso (Renault)
2. Montoya (McLaren-Mercedes)
3. Coulthard (RedBull; RBR-Ferrari)

Next up: Grand Prix of Britain (Silverstone) on 11-Jun… televised again on CBS, 12PM CST.

Happy Birthday, Em!

Emily, our middle daughter, turns 8 today! Happy Birthday, Em!Time flies…. in 5 days, we’ll also be celebrating 8 years in our current home. It seems like yesterday when I was running from the hospital delivery room to make the walk-through for the house.

2006 F1 Round 6 of 18: Spain

Highlight: Alonso winning on home soil….alternating Renaults and Ferraris in the top 4.Race Result:

1. Alonso (Renault)
2. M. Schumacher (Ferrari)
3. Fisichella (Renault)

2006 F1 Round 5 of 18: Europe (N�rburgring)

Highlight: won in pit strategy…. Alonso came in a bit early for his last stop, allowing Schumacher to pound out a few blistering laps, take his stop, then come out in front of Alonso. Alonso still leads Schumacher in overall drivers points standings: 44 to 31 and Renault is still ahead of Ferrari in the constructors championship: 62 to 46.Race Result:

1. M. Schumacher (Ferrari)
2. Alonso (Renault)
3. Massa (Ferrari)

Currently reading: Small Giants

I picked up “Small Giants: Companies That Choose to Be Great Instead of Big,” by Bo Burlingham, from good old Gail Borden library a few days ago and am about halfway through it.

It’s a pretty inspiring read and validates many of my naive beliefs (and hopes) about what makes a great business.

The next installment of the “soundtrack of my life” is in progress

I’ve said before that music from the band Rush is the soundtrack of my life….so, it was with great interest that I read a Google alert today that informed me of the trio’s progress on their next album. The article at TheRockRadio.com mentions that “Rush [is] already several songs into new album.” (Here’s a link to the recent news post (April 26, 2006) on Neil Peart’s site referenced in the article.)

Oh, what I’d give to be a fly on the studio wall….
