Currently enjoying: Rush R30 – 30th Anniversary Tour
I always have been and always will be a huge Rush fan. As cliche as it sounds, Rush is the soundtrack for many moments in my life – the first time I was introduced to 2112 as a wide-eyed seventh-grader back in 1976; the many hours spent in front of the turntable with each album trying to figure out the songs on guitar; the weekend Lupita and I were in Toronto and visited the Orbit Room (a club co-owned by guitarist Alex Lifeson); the Vapor Trails concert (3rd row!) I attended at Milwaukee’s Marcus Amphitheater in July 2002. I know I’m occasionally mocked for my love of Rush (”..salesman!!” – you know who you are…. ;-> ), but it’s a guilty pleasure I continue to enjoy in the privacy of my car or on the iPod.
Today, “R30″ was released and, of course, I had to run over to the local BestBuy to pick it up. R30 is a dual DVD set featuring Rush’s Frankfurt, Germany concert in September 2004, recorded near the close of their 30th anniversary tour and includes some rare and classic peformance footage and interviews. It’s just more stuff that makes me enjoy these guys and their music all the more.
I can’t wait for the next studio release.
