I stumbled across a couple of trailers recently that piqued my interest: Keanu Reeves in Philip K. Dick’s A Scanner Darkly and Peter Jackson’s King Kong.

While the story is always the most important element of any movie, I can’t help but be drawn in by the visual effects. A Scanner Darkly reminds me of that old ‘Aha!’ music video or one of the those recent financial services commercials – a live action / animation combination that’s kind of freaky. Of course, the King Kong story is a familiar one, but some of the scenes in the trailer look like they’ll one-up some of the best scenes from the Jurassic Park series.
