Another inspiring Apple tidbit….

Jonathan Ive, Apple VP of industrial design, as quoted in an article on a recent public appearance at London’s Design Museum:

“Ive’s care and attention to detail imbues the products Apple makes, and Apple as a company ‘isn’t about making money, it’s about making nice things’, he said. ‘We make money to support our desire to make nice things,’ he stressed. “

Sucker for all that is Apple

I’m a sucker for all that is apple…. I’ve been very happy with my 2G iPod….but have been toying with getting a new one for a while…. and am glad I waited. The new iPod photo is pretty incredible and it’s on my wishlist.

I just watched the video of the apple special event with U2 . Even though I’m not too keen on bono’s political leanings, something he said struck a chord with me…

“The job of art is to chase the ugliness away.”

I’ve never heard it put that way before - but I’m sure I’ll use it again repeatedly in many other things. (My form of this message has to do with the intersection of lipstick and pigs - it has the same underlying meaning - but is, admittedly, a bit less poetic / eloquent).

I need to find and be a part of some passion - the likes of which exists at Apple. Great stuff….

Not just built….but truly crafted. And it looks like they have a hell of a lot of fun doing it.

EVO + iPod = bliss

I took my weekly Sunday morning drive today…. and it felt more ‘complete’ - I was able to take my drive and listen to my music collection via the iPod (instead of the 3-4 CDs I burned with a few playlists).

On Friday night, I put in a new stereo head unit into the Evo - one with an aux input so that I can hook up the iPod. I got spoiled in the Element with the standard aux input on the dash. After months of trying to do something with the stock head unit - I finally bit the bullet and ordered the new stereo. The installation went without a hitch (thank you for the wonderful instructions, Crutchfield).
